Super Foods: Acai Berry

Berries are full of nutrients. Strawberries have Vitamin C, Magnesium and Potassium. Blueberries also have calcium. The best part about berries is that they have less calories! A cup of cranberries has 44 calories only. They are packed with nutrients and are low in calories, what’s not to love?     Acai berry is called a super food (or should I say super berry?) because along with the benefits of berries mentioned above, it is well known for it’s antioxidants. More benefits about Acai berries include: – Improves heart health – Promotes mental function – Keeps Skin healthy – Anti ageing properties   So other than popping them in your mouth to eat, you can check out these yummy recipes! Super Foods: Chia Seeds

Continuing the series on super foods, my second pick after White Tea is Chia seeds. The Best part about Chia seeds is that you can add them to anything you’re making. These tiny things boast a ridiculously long list of nutrients, which includes, Omega 3 Fatty Acids – vital in maintaining a healthy brain. Fibre – Important for digestion. Calcium – A good source of calcium for those who are allergic to dairy or fish. Manganese – Good for bones. Phosphorus – Helps in maintaining teeth and bones. Protein – A good source of protein for vegetarians.   Other than that Chia Seeds help in slowing down digestion, which makes it an ideal natural remedy for Type 2 diabetes, and helps fight belly fat.   Now if you’re clueless about how to prepare a dish using chia seeds, have a look at some of these must try recipes! How To: Beach Hair

I love the way my hair looks after a trip to the beach. Soaking in the sun and the salty air seems to make my hair look better. For those who love beach hair but can’t go to the beach everyday, here’s three easy ways you can get those beachy waves.   SALT SPRAY   Hands down, the easiest way to recreate beach hair. It adds texture and volume. An important tip, when applying salt spray, less is more. After you spray it onto your hair, just scrunch up the ends of your hair and voila, instant beach hair! You can buy salt sprays or you can make it yourself at home. Check out this DIY Sea Salt Hair Spray.   3 BARREL CURLING IRON   If you don’t mind heat styling and want something more defined, curling irons are your best option. An important tip, make sure you use heat protectant. This will minimise the damage to your hair. Continue Reading »

Loving This Week: Vita fede

I’m always on the lookout for new arm candy and I’ve been obsessed Vita Fede bracelets for some time now. I absolutely adore the simplicity of the design. It feels like a classic Cartier Love bracelet (without the hefty price tag) and goes with everything in my wardrobe! The brains behind the brand is Cynthia Sakai. She describes Vita Fede as “a fusion of Asian, American and European culture that represents an elevated aesthetic, a lifestyle and a point of view that are universal.” While the basic design remains the same, the materials used changes. It’s handcrafted in Italy using brass, natural stones, Swarovski crystals, sterling silver and 24K gold. Here’s what I’ve been lusting after! 7 Must Haves For The Summer

There’s three ways to be sure that summer in Dubai has begun. One, your makeup melts off within five minutes of stepping out. Two, the temperature reaches 30 degrees before the clock hits 9am. Three, the roads are surprisingly empty because everyone’s on a vacay.   If you aren’t travelling anywhere this summer, here’s a list of things you need to survive summer in Dubai.   1. The Trio: A pair of shades, sunscreen and a floppy hat. (For those brave souls who go to the beach in this weather, may you never get sunburnt) 2. Triangl swimsuits (For those late night pool parties) 3. Moisturiser with a high SPF. (Nobody wants to look older than they actually are) 4. Sandals. (Anything that doesn’t completely cover your foot and make it sweat, like sneakers) 5. Pedicure. (Your feet need to be at their best since you’ll be wearing open toe shoes)   6. Maxi dresses. (Pants? In this weather? Nope) Continue Reading »

Salads You’ll Love To Eat

Lettuce might actually be the most bland tasting thing ever. But that doesn’t matter to women who keep eating it by the pound to keep in shape. As much as I’d like to say otherwise, I don’t really like salads. Sure, I can put creamy salad dressing on it and add croutons but then my calorie intake would probably triple and it wouldn’t be considered healthy anymore. Being vegetarian, salads become monotonous. But thanks to some amazing recipes, eating salads is anything but boring!   Spinach with Avocados and Peppers  Curried Tomatoes and Chickpeas   Romaine lettuce and Pickled Vegetables   Tomato and Feta Salad   Couscous Salad with Dried Cherries and Hazelnuts   Check out more amazing recipes at   – Neha Prasad

Superfoods: White Tea

Move over Green Tea, we’ve got a new favourite health drink. White Tea is touted to be even better than Green Tea. It has the same antioxidants as Green Tea but more in terms of quantity. It also doesn’t have that grassy aftertaste that Green Tea has, but a more sweet taste and smoother. Health Benefits – Helps in losing weight – Contains a lot of antioxidants that help in keeping your body healthy – Has antibacterial and antiviral properties – Improves cardiovascular activities – Lowers cholesterol   I’ve not always been a fan of tea mainly because of the bitter taste. But I’d definitely give White Tea a try considering the bitter taste isn’t an issue anymore. But I’ll always be more a coffee person.   Places to buy White Tea in Dubai   – Neha Prasad

4 Steps For An Easy Smokey Eye

A couple months ago, I wrote about some tips to get the perfect smokey eye. This time it’s going to be a quick tutorial on how to actually do smokey eyes. Some things you need, 2 eyeshadows, one dark and one light (you can opt for any colour you want), an eyeliner, eyeshadow brush, blending brush and an eyeliner brush. Smokey eyes are known for being dark and smouldering, but you can also keep it light if you want to. Also opt for colours that compliment your eye colour.   STEP 1: Apply Apply a dark eyeshadow to your crease. Start with your upper lash line and work your way up to the crease. Apply a lighter shade below your eyebrow until it reaches the crease.   STEP 2: Blend Make sure you blend both colours properly so that there are no lines.   STEP 3: Line Away Apply an eyeliner to your lower lashes and smudge. The eyeliner can Continue Reading »

Saying that Lupita Nyong’o is having a good year is an understatement. A year ago she was virtually unknown until her critically acclaimed role in the movie, 12 Years a Slave. How To Treat Sunburns

Living in Dubai, I have lost count of how many times I got sunburnt. The summer is amazing for those who love to go to the beach and tan but sometimes the heat gets out of control and you get burnt. Or you fall asleep on the beach and get burnt. Well that’s how it usually happens to me. Prevention is better than any cure. Make sure that you apply adequate amounts of sunscreen. It helps not only in preventing sunburns, it is also known for preventing ageing due to sun exposure. Here’s a few remedies than help in treating sunburnt skin Baking Soda Mix a couple tablespoons of baking soda with cool bath water and have a soak. Make sure that you don’t soak for more than 15 minutes as it can excessively dry out your skin. Once you get out, air dry yourself without using a towel. Don’t wipe off the baking soda on your skin.   Aloe Continue Reading »
