Red Carpet Round Up: Cannes Film Festival 2014

The Cannes Film Festival came to an end yesterday. With nearly 18 films competing for the coveted Palm d’Or, Winter Sleep directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan cinched the award.

While the film screenings take up the top spot, fashion comes in a close second with everyone having their say about who was the best dressed and *gasp* who didn’t quite make the list. Here’s my list of best dressed celebs on the red carpet!

Chanel Cruise Dubai

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of weeks, you would know that one of the most prestigious and well loved luxury brands, Chanel, presented it’s Cruise Collection for 2014/15 in Dubai!

The collection was presented on The Island. Karl Lagerfeld and the French fashion house orchestrated a true fashion spectacle on the manmade Island, privately owned by Sheikh Hamdan.

The Island after

What started out as a barren stretch of land turned into an exquisite set. It took a total of two months to build the oasis which was complete with palm trees, tents, Bedouin cushions and rugs and even henna plants.

Guests were escorted from the mainland to the Island via abras. The VIP guest list included Tilda Swinton, Freida Pinto, Vanessa Paradis, Dakota Fanning, Carine Roitfeld and Chiara Ferragni. Janelle Monae was also in attendence.

Drawing inspiration from the Middle East, the looks were modest and incorporated layering. One look even had a sequined Burj Khalifa on it. I’m lusting over the crescent moon brooches which incorporated the Iconic Chanel double c’s logo.

Here are some of the looks I absolutely fell in love with!
